City University Department of Music hosts public concerts, seminars and conferences throughout the academic year, presented by visiting international researchers, composers and performing musicians, alongside our talented students and staff.

Our vibrant concert series includes experimental new music and world music, chamber recitals and innovative work from our sound studios, reflecting the diversity of the department’s research interests. Most of the concerts are free to attend and held in the newly refurbished Performance Space in the College Building.

Pianist and composer Xenia Pestova Bennett has earned an international reputation as a leading proponent of uncompromising music.
Her work spans a wide range of sound worlds, styles and genres from classical and contemporary art music to free improvisation, experimental electronica, multimedia and avant-pop. Her ten studio albums to date include widely acclaimed recordings for Naxos Records, Innova, Unsounds, Diatribe, Farpoint and Ergodos.
