Are you used to overcoming obstacles in life but feel puzzled when it comes to performance anxiety? Perhaps you are already comfortable speaking and presenting in public, yet unable to play or sing confidently in front of people. Or, despite your love of performing, you are simply terrified of being in the spotlight.

If you would like to build confidence to perform for others and find a sense of freedom and self-expression in your music-making, teaching, presenting or other performance, this online course is for you. During these live interactive sessions, we will discover a series of theoretical concepts and practical tasks that will provide you with a clear roadmap to prepare for a performance. We will explore the physiology of the anxiety mechanism and the “tool shed” concept of approaches in depth (including movement, functional breathing and focus), introduce cognitive rehearsal strategies and investigate links between anxiety and nutrition while identifying bespoke daily rituals and routines.

The course is open to musicians and other creative practitioners / educators of all levels of ability and experience.

Classes will be supplemented with a free copy of Xenia's book, a detailed resource handout, intervention videos, unlimited email consultation during the course and an opportunity to stay in touch for ongoing support and free performance forums after the course.

If playing in front of family and friends, or the prospect of performing in front of others, fills you with dread and terror, this is the course for you. It will transform your feelings, free your mind, release those anxieties and equip you to actually enjoy playing and performing for others to enjoy listening to. It has been life changing for me. I am a totally new person after this.

- Michele B.

I am immensely grateful to Xenia for the course. This course has given me important tools to help me to focus and regain joy in my activities as a professional performer. I have been also passing them on to my students for their development!

I just wanted to say a huge thanks for the "Befriending Performance Anxiety" course. I have learnt so much throughout the course, and you have also inspired me to keep going - I'm working my way through the brilliant list of resources that you included. Performance anxiety has felt like a very personal struggle for me, and I also wanted to say thanks for your dedication and care throughout the course - I feel very supported by your work. Most recently, I have noticed a shift in my view towards performance anxiety. Last week before a gig, I actually noticed feeling grateful for my sensations of performance anxiety - I never thought I would say that!? It's a long journey for me of course, but I am amazed to be making progress, and I'm just so grateful for your work.

- Philippa S.

A huge amount of thought and care went in to the preparation of content for this course. It was beautifully paced; we were introduced to lots of ideas but in such a way as not to be overwhelming. I came away feeling I had more in my toolkit than when I started and I also felt re-invigorated to use the tools that I already had. Xenia creates an atmosphere of calm in her classes and a safe space for learning in a group. Seeds of possibility are sown together and, with practice, an opportunity for achieving greater confidence not only in performance, but in everyday situations, presents itself.

- Rachel Firmager, professional cellist and Alexander Technique teacher

Just a note to say THANK YOU so much for the course. It was a wonderful experience from start to finish. The whole area of performance anxiety is one that I have struggled with for a long, long time - and this is the first time that I have given it the time and space to try and deal with it in a constructive way. It had gotten to the point where it's easier just not to perform than stress out to the level that I do! All of your ideas were so helpful and relatable. I loved the combination of the live sessions plus the follow-up videos - those for me were really useful in a) reminding me to revisit the material through the week and b) as a guide for practicing the exercises. The whole group was also so lovely - and it was encouraging to realise that we are all in the same boat really on so many levels!
